Long before roads cut through the valleys and banners claimed the highlands, the Mountain Trolls ruled the caves and ridgelines. They are not mindless brutes, as frightened villagers would have it, but an elder race bound to the bones of the earth itself. Fire is sacred to them — a gift learned in secret, tended deep within cavern halls where sunlight never reaches. When miners dig too greedily or armies march too high, the mountains answer.
